15th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
The Government adopted the draft act on temporary measures to mitigate the consequences of price increases for the beneficiaries of child benefit. Based on this families with children, who are entitled to child benefit, will be receiving dearness allowance for three months. It also adopts the Autumn Economic Forecast, which shows moderation in economic growth. The government took note of the audit report on the feasibility of procuring 8x8 wheeled combat vehicles for the needs of the Slovenian army and decided that Slovenia will withdraw from the Boxer program.

Upon the entry into office of government, the circumstances at home and abroad indicated that it would be illusory to expect a hundred days of peace. We greeted the victory at elections prepared: our priorities were clear; therefore, we rolled up our sleeves without a moment’s delay. We are realising our goals announced before the elections on a daily basis: strengthening the welfare state, public health, providing assistance to the population and the economy in the uncertain times of the energy and food crisis. Care for the individual is at the forefront of all our decisions.

14th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s regular session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia confirmed the draft revised national budget for this year. It also adopted the amendments to the Notariat Act, the Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions Act and the Attorneys Act, and became acquainted with the analysis of legal bases used in minor offence proceedings against individuals due to the violation of COVID-19 measures.

Minister Fajon at informal meeting of EU foreign ministers: “It is important we do not get used to this war”
Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon participated in the informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers (Gymnich) in Prague which focused mainly on the proposal to suspend EU visas for Russian citizens in response to the Russia’s aggression on Ukraine. The foreign ministers supported the full suspension of the agreement between the EU and the Russian Federation on the facilitation of visa procedures for Russian citizens.

11th regular meeting of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At its today's meeting, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Proposed Act Governing Aid to Businesses Hit by High Increases in Electricity and Natural Gas Prices. They discussed the proposed Act Governing Temporary Measures to Remedy the Consequences of Price Increases for the Most Vulnerable Groups of the Population and approved the measures covered by the Act, which, however, will be finally adopted at tomorrow's correspondence meeting. The Government today also agreed the Proposed Amendment to the Protection against Natural and Other Disasters Act.

10th regular government session: A lower VAT rate on certain types of energy products
At its regular session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a draft act on a lower rate of value added tax on certain types of energy products. By temporarily reducing the VAT rate from 22% to 9.5%, the Government is addressing the impact of energy price increases during the peak energy consumption period, i.e. the heating season. The Government also took note of the partial report on the fire intervention in the Goriška Karst region and instructed the Ministry of Defence to prepare, by the end of August, a legal solution to enable the payment of a special award to volunteers participating in the system of protection, rescue and assistance in the event of large-scale disaster interventions. The Government will also launch a procedure to assess the damage caused by the Karst fire and the possibility of acquiring financial assistance from the EU Solidarity Fund.

9th regular government session
At the 9th regular session, the Government issued its Decree Determining the Prices of Natural Gas and adopted a further decision regarding risk preparedness in the event of disruptions in the supply of power and natural gas, taking note of the information concerning the problem of the supply of drinking water to the population of Slovenian Istria. It also discussed the general baselines for the preparation of budget documents for the following two years. These will allow the line ministries to draft the financial plans that will form the basis for future coordination and the Government’s priorities in the next two years.

On Thursday, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia took note of the 3rd Annual Rule of Law Report of the European Commission and adopted the first measures to mitigate the impact of electricity costs.

Decisions from a session of the government committee
At today’s session of the Government Committee for State Organisation and Public Affairs, the Government became acquainted with the joint report on volunteering in the Republic of Slovenia for 2020. The Government also adopted a report on the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteering until 2023 for the period from 2018 to the end of 2020. The Government included in the current Plan of Development Programmes of the Republic of Slovenia 2022-2025 the purchase of business premises for the needs of the judicial authorities in Novo Mesto in the total amount of EUR 855,545.

6th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today's session, the government decided to spend over EUR 22 million to support farmers until the autumn sowing, and to purchase this year's entire wheat harvest. It also adopted a draft amendment to the Radiotelevizija Slovenija Act and guidance regarding the preparation of budget documents.

Government to adjust financial resources for Recovery and Resilience Plan due to reduced non-repayable financial support
Based on today's technical adjustment, Slovenia will receive approximately EUR 1.5 billion for the measures envisaged in the Recovery and Resilience Plan. This is EUR 286 million less non-repayable financial support than predicted by the previous Government, which is a new fact that Robert Golob's Government will need to address. The shortfall in non-repayable financial support will have to be promptly dealt with by changing the financial resources envisaged in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Slovenia to negotiate more than 300 million from the Modernisation Fund
With today’s agreement by environment ministers on the Fit for 55 legislative package, Slovenia will become a beneficiary of the Modernisation Fund, an EU instrument to support green recovery in Europe. Negotiations with the European Parliament will follow, led by the incoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of Kingdom of Sweden and Republic of Finland
At today’s correspondence session, the Government adopted initiatives to conclude the Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of Kingdom of Sweden and Republic of Finland and sent them for approval to the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.

The Government needs an active civil society
After a meeting with non-governmental organisations, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob pointed out that today’s meeting was the first step towards fruitful cooperation with civil society and emphasised that government structures actually need an active civil society, because non-governmental organisations work in the field and are in contact with people, which means that they not only are aware of the challenges and problems but can also address and resolve them quickly, avoiding long-lasting procedures.

Government decisions at sessions of government committees
At today’s session of the Government Committee for State Organisation and Public Affairs, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia opened a new budget item with the budget user, the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia, for the payment of redeemed digital vouchers, to which funds in the amount of EUR 28.8 million will be transferred from the financial plan of the Government Office for Digital Transformation.

123th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At 123th regular session, the Slovenian Government issued the Ordinance on temporary measures to prevent and control infections with the COVID-19 infectious disease, which abolishes the RVT (recovered, vaccinated, tested) requirement in all health and social care activities. The Government also adopted decisions relating to Annex 1 to the General Agreement for 2022. The Government also adopted a decree on the basis of the Digital Inclusion Promotion Act, which allows digital vouchers to be used within a month.

Government decisions at sessions of government committees
At today's session of the Government Committee for the Economy, the Government gave its consent to the Ministry of Infrastructure to assume and pay the obligations on dedicated budget items at the level of a group of budget users through the planned spending rights in the adopted state budget for 2022. At the session, the Government included the "Nature Conservation Investments" project in the Development Programme Plan. Government’s decision to provide Ukraine with material assistance
In light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which puts the Ukrainian population at risk, the Slovenian government made a decision at today’s correspondence session to provide Ukraine with material assistance in the form of IP phones, computer equipment, gas generators, antennas and cables, and to do so via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Prime Minister Janez Janša: Our plans are to supply around half of all households with electricity from solar power in the next decade
Prime Minister Janez Janša today attended the inauguration of the country's largest solar power plant in Prapretno near Hrastnik. On the former degraded site, 6,748 solar modules will generate more than three gigawatt hours of electricity per year. In the coming years, the plant will be expanded to a total capacity of 15 MW. In this way, a point of just energy transition is being created in Prapretno near Hrastnik.

"Fit for 55" package from the perspective of agriculture and forestry at the focus of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council
State Secretary Aleš Irgolič has attended the Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg. Ministers exchanged views on the "Fit for 55" package, in particular on agricultural aspects of the revision of the land-use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) regulation. The European Commission reported on the situation on agricultural markets in light of the war in Ukraine and presented its communication on safeguarding food security and reinforcing the resilience of food systems. Under AOB items, the European Commission presented a proposal for a regulation on geographical indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products, while the French Presidency provided information on the health situation and work at the Council with regard to highly pathogenic avian influenza.

EU funding for the renovation of URI Soča and the Novo mesto General Hospital
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project COVID-19 – Energy-saving renovation of the URI Soča facilities Orhideja and Vrtnica, and the project Energy-saving renovation of two buildings of the Novo mesto General Hospital (Mostek and Kamen). Independent peer review of legislative and administrative frameworks of nuclear and radiation safety
On 4 April 2022, the International Atomic Energy Agency´s (IAEA) mission has started an independent peer review of legislative and administrative frameworks of nuclear and radiation safety in the Republic of Slovenia as well as the activities at the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (SNSA) and the Slovenian Radiation Protection Administration (SRPA). During this review, the mission will check compliance of the SNSA and SRPA procedures with the IAEA standards. The event will conclude on 14 April 2022.

Foreign ministers of Slovenia, Croatia and Italy on cooperation in the North Adriatic Sea
In the framework of trilateral cooperation in the North Adriatic Sea, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Anže Logar met for the third time with foreign ministers of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman and of Italy Luigi di Maio in Zaprešić, Croatia. The ministers took stock of the cooperation in the fields of connectivity, the blue economy and environmental protection, and reviewed concrete proposals for further cooperation.
