  • Minister Logar at a working meeting in the Russian Federation

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar today met his host and Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov for a working meeting aimed at presenting the priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the second half of 2021, exchanging views on current international topics, and bilateral cooperation.

    The 2nd Session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Slovenia and North Macedonia was held via videoconference today. Slovenia was represented by State Secretary Stanislav Raščan and North Macedonia by State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Razmena Cekić-Durović.

  • State Secretary Dovžan holds consultations with Foreign Minister of Cyprus

    State Secretary Gašper Dovžan held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, via videoconference today. The meeting was convened at Slovenia’s initiative and focused on the presentation of the priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency.

  • Minister Logar attends informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (Gymnich) in Lisbon

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar attended an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (Gymnich) in Lisbon. The ministers discussed EU-Africa relations, the unresolved conflicts in the European Eastern Neighbourhood, Belarus and the drafting of the EU's Indo-Pacific Strategy. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi joined them for a working lunch and briefed them on the situation in the region and the Middle East Peace Process.

  • State Secretary Raščan meets with UNHCR representative

    State Secretary Stanislav Raščan met with Roland Schilling, Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Central Europe. They discussed the priorities of Slovenia's EU Council Presidency, migration, the difficult humanitarian situation of refugees and migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Slovenia's support for the UNHCR.

    State Secretary Gašper Dovžan held a meeting via videoconference with State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. Their conversation focused on the priorities of the upcoming Slovenian EU Council Presidency.

  • 10th Africa Day International Conference

    The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, officially opened the 10th jubilee Africa Day International Conference. Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar, who emphasised that from the very beginning, the Africa Day Conference has been a forum for the exchange of ideas and views between partners, including Slovenian and African companies, also addressed the participants.

  • Minister Logar hosts Serbian Minister Selaković on an official visit

    Foreign Minister Anže Logar is hosting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković on an official visit to Slovenia. The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, supporting Serbia on its path towards EU membership and exchanging views on the situation in the Western Balkans in the light of Slovenia's upcoming EU Council Presidency.

  • Consultations of directors-general for European affairs of Slovenia and Finland

    Director-General for European Affairs Barbara Sušnik held bilateral consultations with Pilvi-Sisko Vierros-Villeneuve, Director-General at the Department for Europe at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs via videoconference today. They exchanged views on current bilateral European and international topics.

    State Secretary Gašper Dovžan today held a consultation with Msgr Mirosław Stanisław Wachowski, the Under-Secretary of the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See.

  • Minister Logar at a working meeting in Albania on Slovenia’s support for EU enlargement

    Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar, together with his Austrian and Czech counterparts Alexander Schallenberg and Jakub Kulhánek, visited Tirana and met with Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka, Prime Minister Edi Rama, President Ilir Meta and President of the largest opposition Democratic Party Lulzim Basha. The three ministers travelled to the Albanian capital in the context of a two-day working visit to Skopje and Tirana.

  • This year's Slovenian Diplomacy Day in honour of Štefan Falež

    Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated this year's landmark Slovenian Diplomacy Day. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Slovenia’s independence and in the run-up to its EU Council presidency, the Ministry commemorated prominent personalities of Slovenian diplomacy, who have opened new doors in the international arena during the last few decades. This year, the special occasion was dedicated to Štefan Falež, the first Slovenian Ambassador to the Holy See.

  • Minister Logar concludes his working visit to Berlin

    On the second and concluding day of his working visit to Berlin, Foreign Minister Anže Logar met with President of the German Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble. He highlighted the excellent cooperation between the two parliaments and outlined the priority tasks of Slovenia's EU Council presidency. He exchanged views with the German side on topical issues and gave an overview of the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

  • Letošnja obeležitev Svetovnega dneva čebel v duhu Mednarodnega leta kreativnega gospodarstva za trajnostni razvoj

    The protection of bees and other pollinators is closely linked with raising the awareness of the wider public on the adverse effects of human activities on pollinators and the devastating consequences these activities might have for life and food. The cultural and creative sectors have a significant impact on raising awareness and changing habits by underlining the problematic and promoting alternative, pollinator-friendly ways of living, consuming, farming, and others.

  • Minister Logar visits Berlin

    As part of the regular political dialogue, Minister Logar met with his host, German Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. They talked about activities aimed at enhancing political and economic relations between Slovenia and Germany, with particular focus on strengthening cooperation within the framework of the EU in the light of the upcoming Slovenian EU Council Presidency.

  • Slovenian-French Economic Consultations

    Today, directors for economic diplomacy at the foreign ministries of Slovenia and France held bilateral economic consultations. The meeting took place in a virtual format. The delegations reviewed the economic cooperation between the two countries, discussed opportunities for closer collaboration in a range of respective areas, and took stock of both countries’ positions on key EU topics.

  • Minister Logar on Slovenian EU Presidency in European Parliament

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar held working meetings in the European Parliament in Brussels today. He met with the leaders of the three parliamentary groups and the Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), David McAllister, and briefed them on the priorities of Slovenia's EU Council Presidency. During this period, Minister Logar will assume the role of the EU Council representative in dealings with the European Parliament.

  • Minister Logar attends extraordinary FAC meeting and calls for immediate cessation of violence in Israel and Palestine

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar today attended an extraordinary videoconference of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell convened the meeting to discuss the escalation of tensions in Gaza, Hamas rocket attacks on Israel and the growing number of civilian casualties. The EU foreign ministers also discussed potential EU assistance in defusing tensions.

  • Consultations between the Slovenian and German IHL committees

    On Wednesday, 12 May 2021, the second round of consultations between the Slovenian and German international humanitarian law (IHL) committees was held in a virtual format. The first round took place in November 2018.

  • State Secretary Dovžan at a rule of law conference in Portugal and in bilateral meetings with Slovakia and Romania

    At the invitation of the Portuguese Secretary of State, Ana Paula Zacarias, State Secretary Gašper Dovžan and German Minister of State Michael Roth took part in the Closing Session of the High-Level Conference “Rule of Law in Europe”. The event was organised by the Portuguese Presidency in Coimbra, Portugal.
