Under the auspices of the international community, five countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – today Serbia) signed the Agreement on Succession Issues by which it was conclusively confirmed that five sovereign equal successor states were formed upon the dissolution of the former SFRY.

The aim of European Economic Interest Groupings (EEIG) is to ensure the best and smoothest possible cross-border cooperation on projects that will improve the competitiveness of the European rail sector. Slovenian enterprises and organisations also participate in EEIGs.

The EU aims to establish international rail corridors for a European rail network. The objectives of the technical assistance are to facilitate the participation of Slovenia in the corridor structures to improve the information flows and to streamline the implementation of cross-border projects.
