Slovenia Weekly: Rich, despite our small size

The Government has extended the cap on retail electricity and gas prices for households, small business consumers and protected customers, and on electricity prices for small and medium-sized enterprises until the end of the year. In doing so, the Government continues to help tackle rising energy prices for the population and protected customers, and to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with a stable, predictable and competitive business environment. According to the Minister responsible, Bojan Kumer, the current market conditions still require the cap to be extended.

During his visit to Rome, the Minister of the Interior, Boštjan Poklukar, said that the state of emergency declared by Italy throughout the national territory due to an increase in migration flows would not affect the current situation at the border with Slovenia. "At the moment, the agreements we have with the Italian Republic are working (...) police cooperation in mixed patrols is excellent," the Minister said. Italy will not close the border and will not take additional measures at the border, Poklukar said after the ministerial meeting.

Geographically small, gastronomically rich – that is Slovenia, says Gault&Millau Slovenia. Despite its small size, Slovenia has earned its status as a gastronomic superpower on the world tourism map. This is confirmed in spades by Gault&Millau, one of the culinary world’s most influential international guides, which this year awarded ten Slovenian restaurants four toques and thus the title of best restaurant.
