First Virtual Meeting of Slovenians, Living in Japan, Organised by Društvo VTIS
On 12 September 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo joined the first virtual meeting of Slovenians, who have been educated abroad and live in Japan. The meeting was organised by Društvo VTIS.

Chairman of Japan-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Japanese Parliament, on 8 September 2022.
The meeting took place in the context of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Slovenia and Japan, which the two countries are celebrating this year. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki peace memorial ceremonies with a clear message for a world without nuclear weapons
The commemorations of the victims of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been held for the 77th consecutive year. Participants paid tribute to those who lost their lives as a result of the atomic bombing and supported the two cities' message for a world without nuclear weapons and a lasting peace.

In memoriam dr. Vladimir Kos
It is with great sadness that we inform you that the voice of Dr Vladimir Kos, a great Slovenian who lived and worked in Tokyo for many years, has fallen silent forever. We offer our sincere condolences to his family, relatives and fellow comrades.

Opening of the Exhibition about Alma M. Karlin Entitled "Japan at Last!"
The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo, together with the Celje Regional Museum, the German Cultural Centre OAG Haus, the Embassy of Austria in Tokyo and the Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo, opened an exhibition on Alma M. Karlin entitled "Japan At Last!".

Reception on the Occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Slovenia and the 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between the Republic of Slovenia and Japan, 22 June 2022
On 22 June 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo organised a reception for the diplomatic community, Slovenian citizens and representatives of Japanese institutions on the occasion of the Slovenian National Day and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Slovenia and Japan. Around 90 people attended the event.

On World Bee Day focus on young people
Today marks the fifth World Bee Day, declared by the UN General Assembly on Slovenia’s initiative on 20 December 2017. In this European Year of Youth, World Bee Day is dedicated to the future of beekeeping and the role of young people in raising awareness of its importance.

Bee Forage Planting Day, 26 March
On 26 March, the Bee Forage Planting Day project initiated by the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association took place in Tokyo. In collaboration with Tokyo urban beekeepers, a non-profit organisation called Ginza Honeybee Project "Ginpachi", we have sowed sunflower and cosmos seeds and planted lavender, blackberries and blueberries. We also decorated it with the plaque with information about the project.

The two Ministers exchanged views on the work of the Government Office for Digital Transformation and the Japanese Digitisation Agency and assessed that there are many similarities and opportunities to share good practices.

Reception of Slovenian Cyclists by the Minister Dr. Kustec
On 25 July 2021 The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo hosted a reception in honour of three Slovenian cyclists, Tadej Pogačar, Jan Polanc and Jan Tratnik, who participated in the road cycling race at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the presence of the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Dr Kustec, the President of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, Mr Gabrovec, and the Head of the Slovenian National Team, Mr Cerar.

Beware of Red Passport and Slovenian citizenship scams
Third-country nationals should exercise the utmost caution in all dealings with companies that claim to offer assistance in obtaining Slovenian citizenship or Slovenian passports. Many websites and e-mail scams attempt to mislead individuals into believing the companies are offering to expedite citizenship or passport applications or are acting on behalf of the Slovenian authorities.
