New Memoranda pave the way for €50 million in investments in local development and public health
The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development today hosted a ceremony marking the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2021-2028 and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2021-2028. The event was held at Villa Podrožnik, the protocol residence of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Purchase of flats from the Velenje Coal Mine. The Just Transition Fund has ring fenced a total of 5 million euros to support the project.

Call for proposals for revitalising public infrastructure in border areas closed
The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has concluded a call for proposals for the revitalisation of public infrastructure facilities in border problem areas for 2026. Ten municipalities were allocated €9.4 million for the renovation of abandoned public infrastructure facilities and the revitalisation of underutilised areas.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia approved the text of draft Resolution on Slovenia's Regional Development Strategy 2026-2050 at its regular session on 5 March 2026 and submitted it to the National Assembly for discussion and adoption.

Slovenia advocates for a strong post-2027 Cohesion Policy
Minister Dr Aleksander Jevšek attended the meeting of the General Affairs Council that took place on 26 February in Brussels. EU Ministers responsible for Cohesion Policy exchanged views on the Cohesion Policy mid-term review to ensure the relevant findings and outcomes can support timely and effective delivery of Cohesion Policy in the next programming period.

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Implementation of further vocational and professional development and training programmes in 2025-2029. The European Social Fund Plus will contribute €13.4 million to this large-scale project, which totals €20 million.

EU funding for sustainable mobility: project to develop a regional integrated transport strategy of the Ljubljana urban region approved
The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has issued a funding decision for the DRR RCPS LUR project. A financial contribution from the Cohesion Fund will be allocated to support the implementation of strategic planning.
