EU funding for the renovation of the Sonček kindergarten in Kranj
The project will focus on the renovation and replacement of the Sonček kindergarten in the Planina neighbourhood in Kranj. Plans call for the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a nearly zero-energy public kindergarten facility in accordance with sustainable building principles, along with the creation of safe and high-quality outdoor spaces.
The project aims to mitigate the decline of a functionally degraded urban area and improve the quality of public kindergarten infrastructure. The project will help ensure modern, safe, and functionally adequate conditions for the provision of kindergarten education, more efficient use of urban space, and improved living and development conditions for young people. The implementation of the project will reduce the risk of further functional, physical, and social degradation of the Planina area and, indirectly, contribute to the revitalisation of the wider area of Stari Kranj and Savska cesta road. A total of 5,773.14 square meters of underutilised space will be renovated.
The European Regional Development Fund will contribute €1,642,189.87 in EU funding to the project, which has a total value of €7,953,583.20. The beneficiary of the funds is the Municipality of Kranj.
