EU funding for the development of a public park by the Semič Cultural Centre
As part of the project, a new public park will be developed as a recreational space fostering social interaction and experiential learning in nature. The park will also be used as a venue hosting a variety of outdoor cultural activities. It will boast open green infrastructure featuring pathways, landscaped green areas, and multifunctional activity spaces, using sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions complemented by digital features. It will be built on the site of a former grassy playground in the town centre of Semič.
The project aims to improve the quality of public space and enhance access to green areas in the municipal centre. It will contribute to the greening of the town, foster intergenerational cooperation, support the inclusion of vulnerable groups, and provide spaces for leisure, recreation, and cultural activities. In addition, it will encourage the local community to take an active role in the planning and use of green spaces.
The €1,367,928.23 project will be implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and will receive €607,661.36 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funds will be the Municipality of Semič.
