EU funding for the final phase of the Bleiweis Park in Kranj

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Final phase of the Bleiweis Park. The European Regional Development Fund will contribute over €740,000 to support the project.

The project will include the final development of publicly accessible green spaces between the Gosposvetska ulica and the Bleiweis cesta streets in the centre of Kranj on the site of a newly established memorial park dedicated to Dr Bleiweis. In addition to new park areas, the area will be landscaped with a mix of trees, shrubs, climbing plants, and perennials to enhance its greenery. Lawns, recreation zones, a playground, senior exercise stations, and various street furniture will also be provided.

The project aims to improve the quality of the urban environment by creating a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive space for visitors of all ages. The new park will offer areas for social interaction, recreation, and relaxation, contributing to a higher quality of life in the city of Kranj.  In total, over 1.000 hectares of green spaces are set to be renovated under the project.

The €2,512,617.66 project will be implemented under Slovenia's EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. It will receive €743,582.76 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funds will be the Urban Municipality of Kranj.
