Warning about misleading advertisements on Facebook: the Government is not conducting a survey
The Government, or the Communication Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (UKOM), is not the client of the advertisement or the survey mentioned. In this case as well, this is a misleading post, similar to those we have already warned about.
We checked the advertiser in Facebook Ad Library (filter: Slovenia only) and viewed its Facebook page. The link in the advertisement, accessible through Facebook Ad Library, leads back to Facebook, so we were unable to view the survey itself. From the fact that Товари для дому is listed as the beneficiary and payer of the advertisement, it is already clear that no official institution stands behind the post.
Do not click on the links
The advertiser's Facebook page (which otherwise contains no content) is also full of warnings telling internet and social media users not to click on the link, as it is a scam intended to steal data and money. Based on the comments, it is also evident that the same advertiser is targeting users in several European countries. This is also confirmed by Facebook Ad Library (without using the Slovenia filter).
All internet and social media users who come across similar suspicious advertisements are advised to enter the advertiser's name – in this case EU Government Survey – into the search tool of Facebook Ad Library or Google Ads Library and review the details there. This allows them to see whether it was actually published by an official institution or whether it is an attempt at fraud. Do not click on the attached links beforehand.
Do not share false or misleading content
The Government calls on all social media users to exercise caution: do not trust or share content that appears false or misleading. Before sharing a post, verify its credibility and ask yourself whether it could be true. Likewise, do not fall for promises of high and easy earnings.
The Government has also prepared guidelines and advice to help recognise false news.
