Directorate for Economic Diplomacy and Development and Humanitarian Aid

The Directorate for Economic and Public Diplomacy analyses bilateral economic cooperation with other countries and drafts proposals for the deepening of such cooperation. In cooperation with Slovenia’s representations abroad and the competent institutions, it provides support to Slovenian companies in entering foreign markets, including the identification of business opportunities, and promotes the internationalisation of the Slovenian economy with the aim of increasing Slovenian exports.

It organises visits by economic delegations accompanying the highest state representatives of Slovenia on visits abroad and participates in the organisation of visits by foreign economic delegations to Slovenia. It participates in the organisation of joint appearances by companies at fairs abroad, promotes the expansion of the network of Slovenian business clubs, and participates in the promotion and marketing of Slovenia as a favourable destination for foreign direct investment.

It organises meetings of joint commissions for Slovenia’s economic cooperation with countries with which such a form of cooperation is agreed and is responsible for the preparation of international agreements in the field of bilateral economic relations.

The Directorate strives to increase the visibility of foreign policy activities in Slovenia and plans communication with the international public regarding the promotion of the country brand I feel Slovenia abroad. It performs tasks related to international cultural cooperation and is responsible for the coordination of activities for the preparation of operational cultural programmes and the promotion of Slovenian culture abroad.

    The interests of Slovenian businesses abroad are protected and promoted by a network of diplomatic missions and consular posts and their economic advisers who assist Slovenian businesses in entering foreign markets. These efforts are complemented by a worldwide network of Slovenia's honorary consuls, whose main role is to represent Slovenia's economic interests.
