Department for Economic and Development Cooperation
It analyses bilateral economic cooperation with other countries and drafts proposals to deepen such cooperation. In cooperation with Slovenia's representations abroad and the relevant institutions, it supports Slovenian companies in entering foreign markets, including by identifying business opportunities, and promotes the internationalisation of the Slovenian economy with the aim of increasing Slovenian exports and diversifying their geographical reach. To promote internationalisation, it also participates in initiatives to expand the network of honorary consuls.
It coordinates and organises visits by economic delegations accompanying Slovenia’s highest state representatives on visits abroad and participates in organising visits by foreign economic delegations accompanying the highest representatives of foreign countries on visits to Slovenia. It also helps organise business conferences and seminars held alongside such visits and carries out follow-up activities relating to visits by economic delegations.
It participates in drafting proposals for joint appearances by companies at trade fairs abroad and in organising these appearances. It also promotes the expansion of the network of Slovenian business clubs and helps promote and market Slovenia as a destination for foreign direct investment, with a view to attracting as much foreign direct investment to Slovenia as possible.
It prepares the meetings of the joint commissions for Slovenia's economic cooperation with countries with which this form of cooperation has been agreed. It is also responsible for preparing international agreements relating to bilateral economic relations.
