Slovenia Weekly: A day of remembrance and contemplation

We celebrated the Day of Uprising Against Occupation as a memorial to the Slovenian resistance movement and the formation of the Liberation Front, the Slovenians’ main resistance organisation in World War II.

In his message on the occasion of the Day of Uprising Against Occupation, Prime Minister Robert Golob called it a day of remembrance and contemplation about the past, the future and, above all, about ourselves and our nature. He said that the past should inspire us with good examples and that the historical message of this day can help us build our future.

The 24th of April also marked the first Slovenian No Food Waste Day. Its main mission is to invite families, individuals, companies and other entities, both public and private, to come together and form an alliance to reduce food waste. The day is dedicated to spreading the message that food is a value and should be treated as such.
