Connecting Europe Facility 2014–2020

In the 2014–2020 period, the Connecting Europe Facility is a key EU financial instrument to promote growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted investments in transport, energy and telecommunications infrastructures.

The EU funds delivered through this financial instrument are intended for supporting the development of high-performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European transport, energy and digital networks and for filling the missing links between these three areas.

Regulation (EU) No 1316/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing the Connecting Europe Facility provides for the funding rates and the conditions under which a project is eligible for funding. It distinguishes between grants and innovative financial instruments (e.g. guarantees) that serve as efficient leverage for attracting resources from private investors.
