Prime Minister Janez Janša, together with the leaders of 21 other European countries, has sent a letter to the President of the European Council, António Costa, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, calling for an immediate and coordinated European response to the escalating migration situation in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

In an interview with Planet TV on the occasion of Statehood Day, Prime Minister Janez Janša underlined the importance of Slovenia’s independence as a shared achievement of the nation and the state. Reflecting on the War for Slovenia, he said he most strongly remembered the unity, enthusiasm and joy that accompanied the creation of an independent Slovenia, rather than the military threats. “Slovenia’s independence belongs to the Slovenian nation and to our civic community,” he said.

Prime Minister Janez Janša, accompanied by his wife Urška Bačovnik Janša, attended the central state ceremony marking Slovenia's Statehood Day, where, alongside the President of the Republic, he also delivered a ceremonial address. Speaking ahead of the European Council meeting in Brussels, Prime Minister Janez Janša said that the positions adopted at the recent G7 summit opened more possibilities to achieve peace in Ukraine. "Any steps that could lead to an end to the fighting and the start of negotiations should be welcomed. As long as weapons do the talking, diplomacy has little power," he emphasised.

The Prime Minister of the 16th Government of Slovenia, Janez Janša, presented the key priorities of the new government team during his meeting with the President of the Republic and drew attention to the challenging circumstances in which the Government has taken office. The Prime Minister emphasised that the 16th Slovenian Government is composed predominantly of highly experienced individuals who have already tackled similar challenges.
