The adopted proposal for amendments to the Promotion of Digital Inclusion Act will improve the efficiency of the mechanism for providing vulnerable groups with access to computer equipment. As the Government wants the most vulnerable groups to receive computer equipment as soon as possible, the proposal determines the eligible persons for this year directly by the Act. In order to ensure the development of digital literacy, it is imperative that all primary school children, including those from socially disadvantaged families, have suitable computer equipment available at home. The amendments thus designate as eligible persons those who have at least one child in primary school and who are classified in the first income bracket as persons eligible for child benefit. This means eligible persons whose monthly income per person does not exceed EUR 221.46. If there is some equipment left, the group of eligible persons will be expanded to include people in the second income bracket, whose average monthly income per person does not exceed EUR 369.11. The proposed amendments to the Promotion of Digital Inclusion Act will help reduce the digital divide in Slovenia and allow all vulnerable groups to participate in society on an equal footing with others.

The Government also approved the call for applications for enrolment in undergraduate and integrated master study programmes in the 2024/2025 academic year, which includes 5 public higher education institutions and 16 private higher education institutions with concessions for full-time studies. The call for the 2024/2025 academic year submitted to the Government for approval proposes in total 20,241 places for enrolment in the first year for full-time and part-time studies, of which 16,839 places are intended for the citizens of Slovenia and other EU Member States, 1,000 places for Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and 2,402 for citizens of non-EU countries.

At this session, the Government also approved the calendar of state celebrations in 2024 drafted by the Coordinating Committee for State Celebrations and Events. There will be eight state celebrations this year. In addition to five holidays that are traditionally marked by state celebrations every year, this year we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Slovenia joining NATO, the 20th anniversary of Slovenia's accession to the European Union and the 105th anniversary of the unification of the Prekmurje Slovenes with the mother nation.
