Government decisions at the session of the government committee

At the Government Committee session, the Government, among other things, included the new project Strengthening Capacities in the Field of Terrorist Threats in the current Development Programme Plan 2023–2026.

The project Strengthening Capacities in the Field of Terrorist Threats is included in the current Development Programme Plan.

At today's meeting of the Committee on State Planning and Public Affairs, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a decision to include a new project, Strengthening Capacities in the Field of Terrorist Threats, in the current Development Programme Plan 2023–2026.

Organised crime and terrorism can involve, in addition to conventional means, means of mass destruction. This is one of the EU's main challenges and makes the Member States' response capacity even more important. Illicit activities with chemical and biological agents and radioactive substances present a new challenge for the Slovenian police. Inter-ministerial cooperation, adequate awareness of police officers and other first responders at the local level are essential for a rapid response. Therefore, it is planned to reinforce capacities with specific equipment and to improve the competence of the special police unit in the field of terrorist threats.

Thus, we want to ensure that the police special unit is adequately equipped to deal with terrorist threats. The investments made in special technical equipment, vehicles and training will enable the police to perform their tasks to a higher quality and will also ensure a significantly higher level of security for the members of the Anti-Bomb Protection Unit.

The project will be implemented over a period of five years and the total value of the project amounts to EUR 1,080,996.77 (VAT included).
