Decree amending the Decree on the environmental tax on air pollution caused by carbon dioxide emissions

The Government has issued a Decree amending the Decree on the environmental tax on air pollution caused by carbon dioxide emissions.

At the end of July 2022, the government adopted the Decree amending the Decree on the environmental tax on air pollution caused by carbon dioxide emissions, which entered into force on 3 August 2022, and represented the basis on which the obligation to pay an environmental tax for specific types of fossil fuels was abolished.

The proposal of the Decree amending the Decree on the environmental tax on air pollution caused by carbon dioxide emissions reintroduces the obligation to pay an environmental tax for specific fossil fuels (gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and heating oil), which was repealed on 3 August 2022 in order to mitigate the impact on the rise in retail prices of the above-indicated types of fossil fuels.

This Decree shall enter into force on 9 May 2023 and shall apply until revoked.
