Government decisions at a session of the government committee

At the session of the government committee, the Government included the acquisition of new owned business premises for the needs of the operations of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bucharest in the applicable Plan of Development Programmes and it also adopted a response in connection with the Action plan regarding the provision of special rights of the autochthonous Italian and Hungarian national communities.

Acquisition of owned business premises for the needs of the Slovenian Embassy in Romania

At the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia incorporated the acquisition of new owned business premises for the needs of the operations of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bucharest in the applicable Plan of Development Programmes 2023–2026 at today’s session of the Government Committee on State Organisation and Public Affairs.

Due to the change of ownership, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bucharest has to vacate its current premises no later than by 31 May 2023. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is planning to use EUR 1,590,400 within the framework of its financial plan for the purchase and suitable arrangement of the property. The purchase will provide a long-term solution for the spatial issue and the Slovenian representatives in Romania will be able to practice modern work methods and work in compliance with the Criteria for arranging business premises and residences for the needs of the diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Slovenia.

Response to the request of the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities for material in connection with the Action plan regarding the provision of special rights of the autochthonous Italian and Hungarian national communities

At the session of the government committee, the Government adopted the response to the request of the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities for material in connection with the Action plan regarding the provision of special rights of the autochthonous Italian and Hungarian national communities, which will be submitted to the National Assembly.

When discussing the agenda of the 2nd regular session of the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities, which took place on 19 January 2023, the Commission adopted the decision under point 4 of Miscellaneous of the agenda based on which it submitted a request to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for material in which all the ministries would submit their action plans regarding the provision of special rights of the autochthonous Italian and Hungarian national communities by 30 March 2023, as arises from Article 64 of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia and other legal acts in this field.

In its response, the Government explained that it adopted the decision on the establishment of the government working group for the preparation of the Action plan of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the implementation of regulations regarding the realisation of rights of the Italian and Hungarian national communities in the Republic of Slovenia and for the monitoring of its implementation at the request of the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities at the government session on 14 May 2020.

At its session on 18 August 2021, the Government adopted a comprehensive Action plan of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the implementation of regulations regarding the realisation of rights of the Italian and Hungarian national communities in the Republic of Slovenia 2021–2025 and submitted it to the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities. At its session on 1 December 2022, the Government adopted the Report on the implementation of the Action plan of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the implementation of regulations regarding the realisation of rights of the Italian and Hungarian national communities in the Republic of Slovenia 2021–2025 in 2021 and also submitted it to the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities. According to the Government’s information, the National Assembly’s Commission for the National Communities has yet to discuss the Action plan of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the implementation of regulations regarding the realisation of rights of the Italian and Hungarian national communities in the Republic of Slovenia 2021–2025 and the Report on the implementation of the Action plan of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the implementation of regulations regarding the realisation of rights of the Italian and Hungarian national communities in the Republic of Slovenia 2021–2025 in 2021.
