The Government adopts a proposal for a public hearing on the constitutional review of the RTV Slovenija Act

At today's correspondence session, the Government adopted a proposal to call a public hearing and hear witnesses and experts in the proceedings to review the constitutionality of the Act Amending the Radiotelevizija (RTV) Slovenija Act. The Government will send the proposal to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia.

Pursuant to paragraph two of Article 35 of the Constitutional Court Act (ZUstS), in connection with paragraph two of Article 28 of the ZUstS, the Government proposes to the Constitutional Court that a public hearing should be called in the proceedings to review the constitutionality of the ZRTVS-1B, and that witnesses and expert witnesses should be examined.

The witnesses are Ksenija Horvat, journalist at RTV Slovenija and presenter of Intervju, Igor E. Bergant, journalist at RTV Slovenija and presenter of Odmevi, and Robert Pajek, President of the RTV Slovenija Works Council, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Vobič from the Faculty of Social Sciences will act at the expert witness.

The Government believes that the proposed witnesses will be able to provide a comprehensive description of the events that led to the critical situation at RTV Slovenija, and the adverse consequences for RTV Slovenija if the amendment to the RTV Slovenija Act were to be delayed.
