Prime Minister Golob: Judiciary officials will receive a gross monthly allowance of EUR 600

Today, Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob attended the session of the Judicial Council of the Republic of Slovenia and the extraordinary session of the annual general meeting of the Slovenian Association of Judges.

The discussion at the session of the Judicial Council of the Republic of Slovenia focused on the salaries of judges or wage disparities. The Prime Minister stated after the session that the Government would draft reforms in various fields this year and the judicial system was one of them. He further stressed that everything must start with autonomy, i.e. when appointing judges and with regard to their material independence. "We share the views of the Judicial Council about how to attain this new situation in our society," stated Dr Golob.

Following the session of the Judicial Council, the Prime Minister attended the extraordinary session of the annual general meeting of the Slovenian Association of Judges, where he announced the reform of the uniform wage system, which will focus on the specific nature of the judiciary. The Prime Minister further added, "To show our serious intent, we have decided on a supplement to your salaries as of 1 January, which will be granted to judiciary officials, including prosecutors."

According to the Prime Minister, the nominal value of the gross monthly allowance will amount to EUR 600. "By doing so, we wish to set a baseline for this reform," highlighted Dr Golob. With the reform of the wage system, the allowance will become permanent.
