The Slovenian Government’s response to a public letter from NGOs

We hereby publish the Slovenian Government’s response to a public letter from NGOs concerning the resolution of the housing issue.

In recent days, Ministers Klemen Boštjančič and Luka Mesec have emphasised that the coalition agreement concerning the resolution of the housing issue is not being violated. On the contrary, the coalition agreement to provide public rental housing units is rapidly becoming a reality. The coalition agreement not only mentions the transfer of real estate to the Housing Fund of the Republic of Slovenia, but also expresses support for other models of financing public rental housing.

The property, which the Bank Asset Management Company (BAMC) has at its disposal, will be used to solve the housing issue. The government today adopted the Decree governing the legal succession of the Bank Asset Management Company (BAMC), and in three weeks, the competent ministries – the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, and the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs – will prepare the basis for the accelerated construction of non-profit housing units.
