The National Traffic Management Centre (NCUP) serves as the central professional, information and coordination hub for strategic traffic management and the development of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the Republic of Slovenia. We carry out professional, development-related and coordination activities related to traffic management, the development of the national transport data infrastructure, and the implementation of digital transport solutions. Through our work, we integrate transport data, transport infrastructure managers, information systems and other stakeholders into a unified national environment that enables more efficient traffic management and provides users with high-quality traffic information.

A significant part of our work focuses on the development and management of the national transport data infrastructure and on facilitating the exchange of transport data in accordance with the European legal framework for Intelligent Transport Systems. We manage the National Access Point (NAP Slovenia), the national web portal providing users with access to transport and travel data, as well as information on the public charging and refuelling infrastructure for alternative fuels. NAP Slovenia enables the publication, discovery, exchange and reuse of data in standardised formats and represents an important building block for the development of interoperable digital transport services and multimodal mobility in the Republic of Slovenia.

Within NCUP, we develop and continuously upgrade several national information systems that support traffic management. These include SiMO (Slovenian Mobility), the national multimodal journey planner, which enables users to plan journeys using different modes of transport while integrating transport data and mobility services, with a particular focus on public passenger transport and multimodality. We also develop other data-driven and analytical solutions for traffic monitoring, traffic incident management and support for strategic planning and decision-making.

We contribute to the preparation and implementation of legislation and strategic documents in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems and ensure that national information systems comply with European standards, technical specifications and delegated regulations. In carrying out our responsibilities, we cooperate with ministries, transport infrastructure managers, local communities, research institutions, transport data providers, and European institutions and partners, thereby contributing to the development of a modern, interoperable and digitally enabled transport system.
