The Key Projects Division is responsible for professional, development and coordination activities related to the planning, implementation and monitoring of key railway infrastructure projects.

Among our most significant projects is the construction of the second track of the Divača–Koper railway line. The project's primary objective is to eliminate the bottleneck on this railway section, increase the long-term capacity of the Slovenian rail network and thereby contribute to the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy. The existing single-track railway line no longer meets modern transport requirements and, due to its limited capacity, represents a bottleneck on both the Slovenian railway network and the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

An equally important part of our work is the coordination and monitoring of the Ljubljana Passenger Centre project, which involves the comprehensive redevelopment of the area surrounding Ljubljana's main railway and bus stations into a modern multimodal transport hub. The project includes the modernisation and upgrading of the railway station, the construction of a new bus station with a multi-storey car park, and the integration of both facilities into a user-friendly passenger centre providing seamless connections between rail services, regional and international bus services, and Ljubljana's urban public transport network (LPP). The project also includes the construction of new transport and utility infrastructure, as well as the development of accompanying commercial, retail and accommodation facilities. Its objective is to improve the quality of public passenger transport, promote sustainable mobility and create a functional and well-integrated urban area.

We are also responsible for tasks relating to the management of real estate administered by the Ministry that has ceased to have the status of public railway infrastructure and is therefore available for disposal. These responsibilities include preparing the necessary supporting documentation for the disposal of real estate, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and ensuring that all procedures comply with the applicable legislation.
