Katarina Štrukelj graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences, where she also completed her Master's degree in Sociology. She is well versed and experienced in the field of migration, in particular international protection, reception, support and exercise of the rights of applicants for international protection, and the integration of beneficiaries of international protection. She has held a number of management positions within the Ministry of the Interior, including the Head of the Asylum Home from 2004 to 2008 and the Head of the Accommodation, Support and Integration Division between 2008 and 2017. On 1 June 2017, she became the Head of the Reception and Support Division of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the Support and Integration of Migrants, and on 1 October 2019, she became the Director of said Office.
