Slovenia Weekly: Success in EU funds absorption

In the 2014–2020 programming period, Slovenia used all available European cohesion funding for people, the economy and more balanced regional development, completing the first programming period as one of the EU's more successful countries.

As a country, we have managed to use all available cohesion funds and have been able to implement hundreds of projects. Among the investments financed or co-financed are the upgrading of the railway line between Maribor and the national border at Šentilj, part of the second track between Divača and Koper, the biotechnical hub of the National Institute of Biology, and the modernisation of mountain tourist centres.

At the end of next week, the valley below the Ponce Mountains will once again host a ski jumping event. In addition to the traditional men's World Cup season finale on the Gorišek brothers' ski flying hill, the women's finals on the normal hill will take place in the valley below the Ponce Mountains. In addition to the 90th anniversary of the first ski jumping competition in Planica, Slovenian ski jumper and ski flyer "Slovenian Eagle" Peter Prevc will say goodbye to his very successful ski jumping career after 15 seasons in the World Cup.

    15. 3. 2024

If we know the rights and options that we have when shopping or travelling within the EU, we can better utilise the advantages of the European single market while avoiding various problems, risks and unnecessary expenses.
