Slovenia Weekly: So far and ... in the future

In its first year in office, the Government has delivered on the main promise and wish of the people – to live in a normal country again, Prime Minister Robert Golob said on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Government. Together with the leaders of the Social Democrats and the Left, he highlighted, among other things, action to tackle poverty and action in the areas of health, social affairs, the media and the economy.

"When the people entrusted us to take over the Government (…), the main promise and the main wish of the people was to live in a normal country again. This is the first promise we have fulfilled," Golob told at a press conference in Ljubljana on the achievements of the Government, which took office on 1 June 2022.

He said they would not be daunted by the challenges. They will probably not always be successful and they do not promise miracles, but they will fight and work hard, he said. "Slovenia is on the right track and I believe that in three years’ time, when we come to the end of our mandate, we will all be convinced that we live in a country that is better than the one we were handed on 1 June last year," he said.
