Slovenia Weekly: Dialogue. Stability. Trust.

One hundred days have passed since the new Government led by Dr Robert Golob was sworn in on 1 June. The Prime Minister highlights respectful dialogue as the key accomplishment of the current term. The government team also emphasises "thoughtful and targeted measures to mitigate the cost increases".

The Prime Minister and President of the Government’s largest party, Freedom Movement, Robert Golob assessed that the Government proved during its present term that political culture can be changed by means of respectful discourse. "We have shown that it is possible to work differently and not create divisions and crises and put politicians above other people ... For me, respectfulness is the foundation and key accomplishment of the Government’s first one hundred days," he stated. He declared that this way of working, which is "the antipode of what we have seen before", will be continued.

According to the assessment of the coalition partners, the Government composed of the Freedom Movement, the Social Democrats and The Left, encountered many challenges in the first one hundred days, but Golob stated that they were actually preparing for what awaits in the autumn. As an achievement, the government team notes the realisation of the pre-election pledge to enhance the social state and public healthcare, and provide help to the citizens and the business sector in these uncertain times.

Slovenia has been overcome by sports fever. A win against France ensured the Slovenian men’s basketball team the first place in their group and they are now going to Berlin with an excellent start boosting their confidence. The Slovenian men’s volleyball team ranks among the top four in the world championship. Their story in the Stožice Arena ended in the best way possible. The victory over Ukraine means that the Slovenian volleyball players are very close to the winner’s podium.

One hundred days of the work of the government: DIALOGUE. STABILITY. TRUST.

    8. 9. 2022

Upon the entry into office of government, the circumstances at home and abroad indicated that it would be illusory to expect a hundred days of peace. We greeted the victory at elections prepared: our priorities were clear; therefore, we rolled up our sleeves without a moment’s delay. We are realising our goals announced before the elections on a daily basis: strengthening the welfare state, public health, providing assistance to the population and the economy in the uncertain times of the energy and food crisis. Care for the individual is at the forefront of all our decisions.
