In order to prevent the entry of plant pests from outside the European Union, imports of plants (fruits, vegetables, planting and sowing material, cut flowers, branches and other parts of plants) and of plant products (dried grains or wood, chips, particles, sawdust, wood waste or scrap, dunnage and pallets) are regulated at the entry into the European Union. On importation, most plants and plant products must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate and undergo a plant health inspection at the first point of entry into the European Union.
