Yesterday in Murska Sobota, the Minister of Culture, Asta Vrečko, ceremonially opened the European Museum of Roma Culture and History, which has begun operating at a new, more prominent location on Ulica Štefana Kovača.

Today, the European Commission issued a positive preliminary assessment of Slovenia’s fifth payment request for funding under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) of NextGenerationEU. Slovenia is expected to receive the payment next month, estimated at EUR 230 million. Following the disbursement, the utilisation of the funds available to Slovenia under the Facility will exceed 80 per cent.

At an informal video conference of EU foreign affairs ministers, Slovenia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon warned of the risk of a wider regional conflict and called for immediate de-escalation and restraint. She stressed that the people of Iran must be free to determine their own future.

My Voice, My Choice, a Slovenian-led EU-wide campaign for safe and accessible abortion, scored a limited victory after the European Commission on 26 February refused to set up a special financial mechanism to expand abortion access in Europe but told member states they could use an existing fund to help women pay for abortion services.

On February 25, 2026, Ambassador Mirošič hosted the Chair of the United States Commission for the Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America - America250, Rosie Rios, at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, D.C., with whom he signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between Slovenia and the United States in support of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States and 35 years of Slovenia's independence.

On February 24, 2026, Ambassador Iztok Mirošič attended the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer. The event was hosted by the Chair of the White House National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and the Deputy Chairman, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.

A significant number of measures under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), implemented in Slovenia with support from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under NextGenerationEU, have already been successfully completed. Today’s edition of the Together towards the goal series presents the results of the reform and investments aimed at strengthening preparedness and resilience to climate-driven disasters.

During the Government's visit to the Osrednjeslovenska region (Central Slovenia), Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon visited Jožef Stefan Institute's Reactor Centre and its TRIGA (Training, Research, Isotopes, General Atomic) reactor. The visit underscores Slovenia's commitment to the responsible development of nuclear science, the strengthening of international collaboration and the advancement of science and economic diplomacy.

At the meeting of the General Affairs Council, held on the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, ministers and state secretaries responsible for European affairs started preparations for the European Council meeting in March. An exchange of views was held with the European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, to mark today's launch of the Centre for Democratic Resilience.

Prime Minister Robert Golob began the Government’s visit to the Osrednjeslovenska region at the Grosuplje Care Home. Together with the Minister of a Solidarity-Based Future, Simon Maljevac, he met with the residents and the management of the home, which is marking its 42nd anniversary today.
