Draft Employee Profit Participation Act Adopted

At its 183rd regular session, which was again held outside Ljubljana, the Government adopted the draft Employee Profit Participation Act. The Act provides for three forms of profit sharing: cash-based, partnership-based and share-based. The new arrangement simplifies procedures (replacing mandatory registration of agreements with notification to the Financial Administration), introduces more favourable tax treatment and is expected to enable broader employee participation in company profits. The proposal increases the share of profits that a company may distribute to employees from a maximum of 20% to 33%, and raises the annual payment cap to 20% of the total gross wage bill, with up to half of the amount payable in cash.

At the session, the Government was also briefed on the implementation of long-term care, including the operation of entry points and the processing of applications, the functioning of the 114 call centre, and the progress of assessments and the provision of services at home and in institutions.

Consultation with Business Representatives on Regional Development Opportunities

The Prime Minister also visited the Polde Eberl-Jamski Home for Older Persons in Izlake, where he highlighted, among other things, that he remains optimistic that residents in Izlake will benefit from lower bills as of January. Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob assessed the visit to Zasavje as very successful: “We have seen that Zasavje has slowly but steadily found its way out of coal mining and heavy industry, and that in many areas it can serve as an inspiration for other parts of Slovenia.”

In the afternoon, a consultation with mayors and business representatives was held in Zagorje, focusing on key challenges and development opportunities in the region. The discussions centred on economic restructuring after coal mining, sustainable development, transport connectivity and the creation of quality jobs. The Government emphasised its commitment to accelerating projects through coordinated work in the field together with municipalities and companies, in order to ensure stable growth and better living conditions for the people of Zasavje.
