Government Visit to the Goriška Region
Ensuring Access to Artificial Intelligence Tools for All Residents
Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob highlighted the publication of a Slovenian call aimed at ensuring free and secure access to artificial intelligence tools for all residents of Slovenia. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce the digital divide, strengthen innovation potential, and enable the safe and responsible use of advanced technologies in everyday life.
He emphasised that the security of access will comply with the standards set by the European Union. This means that the data will be available exclusively to the user and not to so-called third-party providers, who therefore will not be able to exploit it for their own training purposes.
Establishment of a Public Institution for Contemporary Dance
At its 178th regular session, the Government established the Public Institute for Contemporary Dance, marking the first time that Slovenia is setting up a dedicated national institution for the development of contemporary dance art. The Institute will play a key role in professionalisation and the systematic development of creation, production, education, and international cooperation in the field of contemporary dance. Its establishment also strengthens public access to these contents and represents an important upgrade of the cultural public infrastructure.
Audiences will gain a new opportunity to experience outstanding Slovenian and international contemporary dance. For creators, the Institute will provide high-quality infrastructural, creative, educational, residency, support, and other production conditions, ensuring the coexistence of diverse contemporary dance practices.
The Institute also represents a new model of cultural governance, as it will operate across two locations. In addition to the state, the Municipality of Celje and the Municipality of Nova Gorica will serve as co-founders.
Closure of the Vrtojba Asphalt Plant – An Important Environmental Achievement
During the Government’s visit to the Goriška region, the Kolektor CPG asphalt plant in Vrtojba was officially shut down. This concludes a long-standing issue that has affected the town and its community, representing an important step towards cleaner air, a safer environment, and a higher quality of life for the residents of Vrtojba. Representatives of the state, local community, the company, and civic initiatives highlighted the importance of cooperation, responsibility, and sustainable development.
Consultation with Local Communities, Businesses and Civil Society
In the afternoon, Government representatives met in Nova Gorica with representatives of local communities, businesses, NGOs, and cultural institutions. Special attention was devoted to the opportunities offered by the European Capital of Culture 2025 – GO! 2025 project and its impact on the renewal of cultural infrastructure, increased tourist visibility, and strengthened cross-border cooperation.
