The Government instructs the Ministry of Defence to strictly enforce controls on arms trade with Israel
In view of the armed conflicts and the resulting serious and blatant violations of international law, humanitarian law, and human rights by Israel in the West Bank and Gaza, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, pursuant to Article 5 of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia Act, has instructed the Ministry of Defence to strictly implement Article 77 of the Defence Act and the Decree on authorisations for the production of and trade in military weapons and equipment and on prior authorisation for the import, export, transit and transfer of defence-related products in terms of prohibiting the export and transit of military weapons and equipment from or through the Republic of Slovenia to Israel, and the import from Israel into the Republic of Slovenia, with the exception of equipment needed in the Republic of Slovenia for security and resilience purposes. The Ministry of Infrastructure has also been instructed to review, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, the protocols followed by stakeholders during the transit of military weapons and equipment, and to ensure timely notification of relevant ministries regarding such transit activities by Luka Koper d.d. and Slovenske železnice d.o.o.
The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has instructed the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Infrastructure to report to it monthly on the implementation of the aforementioned measures.
