Warning about a misleading advertisement: the Government does not provide passive payments

A misleading advertisement has appeared on social media inviting users to complete a form in order to receive a payment from the Government. This is not true. Users are advised not to click on the advertisement.
A hand is holding a Slovenian passport, with the caption below: “All citizens of Slovenia can receive this payment from the government if they fill out a form. Learn more.”

This is a false post.

The post titled "Time for a quality life" claims that all citizens of Slovenia can receive a payment from the Government if they fill out a form and thereby join a small percentage of citizens who allegedly receive stable passive payments. Clicking on the link leads to a website that imitates the website of a Slovenian media outlet, while the so-called article itself contains numerous links. Users are advised not to click on this or similar advertisements.

The state provides social security through a wide range of measures in various areas, including healthcare, labour law, housing, education and other areas. Information about cash benefits (in Slovenian) is available on the GOV.SI Government website.

This is a misleading post, similar to those about which warnings have already been issued.

Do not share false or misleading content

The Government calls on all social media users to exercise caution: do not trust or share content that appears false or misleading. Before sharing a post, verify its credibility and ask yourself whether it could be true. Likewise, do not fall for promises of high and easy earnings.

The Government has also prepared guidelines and advice to help recognise false news.
