Against the background of the worrying situation in the Middle East and following Iran's attack on Israel, EU foreign ministers and state secretaries held an extraordinary meeting to discuss how to prevent the situation from escalating and promote security in the region. In this context, State Secretary Štucin stressed the need for the entire international community to act responsibly: "Slovenia has consistently pointed out at all levels that the only way to contribute to calming the situation in the Middle East is through an early and lasting ceasefire in Gaza or a two-state solution and peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians. Without this, we will not achieve lasting stability in the region".

In the Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU of 14 April 2024, the EU condemned in the strongest terms the Iranian drone and missile attacks against Israel and called on all parties to exercise utmost restraint.
