In his address, the Prime Minister said, "It is essential to be aware that our response to climate change must be considerably more complex than we imagine." He also pointed out that positive results of sustainable development will not be achieved solely by technological development: "It is crucial that we adapt our needs. If we do not radically change our behaviour patterns in the use of space, we will not succeed in mitigating the impact of climate change. We are always focused on how to use new technologies to increase development possibilities. It is important that we also know how to rein in our development."

The Prime Minister highlighted nuclear energy as the energy source that is proving to be the most efficient and low-carbon. Recently, political parties supported, by constitutional majority, the manner and content of decision-making by Slovenian citizens on the country's energy self-sufficiency and long-term use of nuclear energy. A referendum on this important issue is planned to be held in the second half of this year. Slovenia is a nuclear country, and the Prime Minister expressed his optimism regarding the country's further sustainable development: "Slovenia has enough renewable energy sources for each of us to be energy self-sufficient. We are working on this and I believe we will succeed."
