EU funding for raising the quality of bilingual education

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Raising the level of bilingual education of the Hungarian national community in Slovenia and the Slovenian national community in Hungary.

As part of the EU co-funded project, the Pomurje Hungarian Self-Governing National Community will prepare various activities and workshops to enrich bilingual education and thus strengthen the positive attitude towards the Hungarian and Slovenian language and cultural heritage preservation. The aim of the project is to upgrade the mother tongue language support with new approaches and forms of teaching and to upgrade the pedagogical practices to enhance the knowledge and skills of teaching in a bilingual environment. This will improve the quality and efficiency of the bilingual education system.       

The project Raising the level of bilingual education of the Hungarian national community in Slovenia and the Slovenian national community in Hungary is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, under the priority Skills and responsive labour market and pursues the specific objective Improving the quality, inclusiveness, effectiveness and labour market relevance of education and training systems including through validation of non-formal and informal learning, to support acquisition of key competences including entrepreneurial and digital skills, and by promoting the introduction of dual-training systems and apprenticeships.     

The project is worth EUR 380,000, with the European Social Fund Plus contributing the majority (85 percent) of the funding, i.e., EUR 323,000.
