Opening of the renovated nursing home in Rakičan

An event marking the official opening of the revamped nursing home, the largest of its kind in the Pomurje region, was held in Rakičan. The renovation of the nursing home’s central unit was co-funded by the European Union. In his welcoming remarks, Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development dr. ''Improving the quality of life of citizens, no matter where in Slovenia or in the European Union they live, is what Cohesion Policy is all about. That is why I am glad that you received nearly 11 million euros from the European Union to renovate this nursing home. After all, cohesion funds are, and have always been, meant for the citizens. I see this as an excellent example of European money well spent,'' said Minister Jevšek on this occasion.

According to Minister Jevšek, the completed project, along with hundreds of other realised projects made it possible for Slovenia to spend all the funding made available under the 2014-2020 operational programme. ''As many as 501 projects worth a total of 163.6 million euros were approved in the Pomurje region in the 2014-2020 period. These projects received 106.9 million euros from the European Union,'' concluded Minister Jevšek.
