Presentation of economic diplomacy at the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs presented economic diplomacy to Slovenian craftspeople. The promotion of diplomatic support for craftspeople is part of a series of events aimed at systematically promoting the internationalisation of Slovenian companies through the network of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, particularly in the framework of the Strategic Research and Innovation Partnerships between Slovenian companies and research institutions (SRIP).

At the event organised by the Chamber of Craft and Small Business, Director-General of the Directorate for Economic and Public Diplomacy Dr Slobodan Šešum addressed the Chamber’s management and the directors, advisors and secretaries of the regional chambers and sections. He explained how economic diplomacy supports Slovenian craftspeople in their efforts to expand their business to foreign markets and outlined the activities of economic diplomacy and its links with the network of diplomatic missions and consular posts. He also presented concrete examples of support for companies through the Economic Project Fund and good practices in the internationalisation of Slovenian companies abroad.

Dr Šešum outlined the Ministry's activities to date in strengthening Slovenia's economic cooperation with foreign countries and its plans for the future. In this context, he invited companies to participate in the planned high-level visits accompanied by a business delegation and in international business events, which can both provide business opportunities for companies.

CEO of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia Danijel Lamperger outlined the Chamber’s active cooperation with economic diplomacy both in Slovenia and abroad, and stressed the interest of craftspeople in expanding their business to international markets.

Many possibilities for cooperation, including promotional events in Slovenia in the international promotion of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, were suggested during the discussion. Several good practices of craftsmen business activities abroad were highlighted, as well as opportunities for companies to improve their visibility in key markets through Slovenia's network of diplomatic missions and consular posts.

Such meetings with businesses were last held during visits to regional chambers of commerce in Primorska in March and in Zasavje and Koroška in February.
