Official opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia in Duress

On 21 February 2024, a new chapter in diplomatic relations between Slovenia and Albania was opened with the official opening of the Slovenian Consulate in Duress, headed by Honorary Consul Genci Likoskëndaj. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, local authorities, business, media, artists and many distinguished guests.

The Slovenian Ambassador to Albania, Peter Japelj, underlined the importance of the Consulate in Duress and its role in strengthening the deeper ties between the two countries. "I have no doubt that the work of the Consul and the Consulate will contribute to deepening the already excellent and friendly relations between Slovenia and Albania," he said.  Honorary Consul Genci Likoskëndaj expressed his satisfaction at the opening of the consulate in Draco, describing it as an important step towards strengthening relations between Slovenia and Albania.

The ceremony was also attended by the Vice-Mayor of Durress, Mr Elio Jani, who praised the opening of the Honorary Consulate, seeing it as an enrichment for the further growth of the city in the field of tourism. The Consulate will serve as an important bridge between Albania and Slovenia and will facilitate mutual exchanges in various fields. Its doors will be open to support trade exchanges, improve economic relations and promote cultural cooperation between the two nations.
