The Forum provides a central platform to advance the implementation of the objectives and commitments outlined in the Global Compact on Refugees. At a time when the use of force, climate change and other security threats are rapidly driving up the number of humanitarian crises around the world, global partnership, solidarity and the response of individual countries, international institutions and the private sector are crucial.

Slovenia is committed to strengthening regular migration channels. In this context, it will present to the Forum plenary its current project to resettle 50 Syrian and Afghan nationals from Türkiye to Slovenia. It will also highlight the implementation of mine action development projects in Ukraine, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to ensure safe access to homes and farmland and food security. In support of a comprehensive solution to the problem of statelessness, Slovenia will commit to accede to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.

In the framework of local partnerships, Slovenia will also commit to strengthening the integration of refugees into society and local communities through sport. It will support improved international cooperation in the collection of statistics on refugees and the causes of displacement, with a particular focus on gender equality.

The Slovenian delegation will underline the importance of joint efforts to prevent and address the root causes of forced displacement and the need for joint action to invest in resilience-building and prevention.
