Today, Prime Minister Robert Golob invited representatives of major humanitarian organisations to a working meeting. They discussed further measures aimed at helping people affected by the floods, including mutual cooperation and the distribution of material and financial aid and activities in the field.

The Government and humanitarian organisation representatives presented the planned activities and measures to help people affected by the floods. An intervention act is being drawn up which, among other things, envisages the distribution of financial aid to everyone who suffered severe damage in the floods, regardless of their social status. The participants agreed that the current aid distributed by humanitarian organisations and the financial aid provided by the Red Cross and Karitas would not be mutually exclusive.

At the end of the intervention period, the Government will draft a proposed recovery act addressing post-flood reconstruction and establishing a more resilient system that will make Slovenia better prepared for similar natural disasters in the future.

The working meeting also addressed the psychosocial distress of the elderly, housing issues and questions regarding the beginning of the new school year in flooded areas.
