Slovenia grateful for the support of the countries, especially those in the neighbourhood, which were among the first to offer assistance
We are particularly grateful to the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, who have shown their support in these difficult moments and are already sending the most acutely needed assistance.
Slovenia is not alone in this difficult situation: we have many friends and international support, including from the EU, NATO and the US. Assistance and support have been offered by Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Germany, Montenegro, Serbia, Greece, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, the Netherlands, Israel, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Armenia, among others.
Those who have expressed their solidarity with the people affected by the floods on social media include the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is arriving in Slovenia on Wednesday to visit the affected areas.
Slovenia yesterday requested assistance in the form of machinery for debris removal and ensuring road transportability through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (ERCC); it also requested assistance to remedy the consequences of the disaster through the NATO Disaster Response Mechanism (EADRCC).
