It was attended by the Prime Minister, in his capacity as Chairman, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Infrastructure, the Director of the Slovene Intelligence and Security Agency, and the State Secretary for National and International Security in the Office of the Prime Minister, who is also the Head of the Secretariat of the National Security Council.

The participants concluded that there were no direct national security implications for Slovenia arising from the recent events in Russia. Slovenian citizens were not at risk and the Slovenian embassy in Moscow continues to operate normally.

The members of the National Security Council said that yesterday’s events serve as a stark reminder of the threats that this unnecessary war poses to the international community as a whole. “The main reason we were all paying attention yesterday to what was happening in Russia stems from the fact that Russia is a nuclear power. This is one of the reasons why we are once again calling on the Russian side to comply with the recently adopted UN General Assembly resolution,” said Dr Andrej Benedejčič, adding: “This means an immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian forces and a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
