He met with representatives of the Municipal Civil Protection, the mayor of the municipality of Šentilj, and locals affected by the natural disaster. The Prime Minister assured them that the state would help, starting with reimbursement of the costs of the interventions. It is expected that within a week, the damage related to the interventions will be inventoried and then the government can take action, including financial action. The funds will be provided in accordance with the Water Act and from the budget reserve: “It is up to the ministry to rehabilitate the watercourses that are the most in need,” the Prime Minister said, announcing that the state would help all municipalities that submit a request.

The Prime Minister thanked the dedicated teams that have worked over the past days to help reduce the damage: “We must use the weekend to protect people and facilities. I trust that volunteers from other municipalities will also come to help. The Slovenian people have shown this solidarity many times before.” The Prime Minister recalled the solidarity with the Karst region shown by Slovenians last summer: “The people of Primorje are still grateful to the whole of Slovenia and I am convinced that we will again gladly help.”
