State Secretary Žbogar in Namibia for consultations

State Secretary Samuel Žbogar held consultations with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia Jenelly Matundu in Namibia from 3 to 4 April 2023. Their discussion focused on enhancing political dialogue and exchanging views on the situation and challenges in the region, with an emphasis on the work of international organisations.

The meeting was aimed at exploring ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including the drafting of an agreement on political consultations and the facilitation of visa procedures for Slovenian citizens. The two officials also discussed multilateral cooperation, economic cooperation and global challenges such as climate change. In this context, State Secretary Žbogar briefed his counterpart on the Africa Days International Conference on climate security, which will be held in Slovenia on 20–21 April. Special attention was also devoted to the Women Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

State Secretary Žbogar also had an opportunity to visit the International Women's Peace Centre, which is committed to advocacy for women, peace and security, building networks and partnerships, and strengthening the capacities of national, regional and international peacekeeping actors. The discussion there focused on the possibilities for cooperation between the Namibian Centre and the Slovenian Peace Operations Training Centre (POTC).
