Prime Minister Golob: The Slovenian economy is going in the right direction with the development of new global products

Today, Prime Minister Robert Golob, together with Minister of Economic Development and Technology Matjaž Han and Minister of Finance Klemen Boštjančič, visited the company Hella Saturnus Slovenija, where they were acquainted with the production, investments and new trends in the automotive industry.

“When the reforms are ready, I will stand before you and we will talk about them,” said the Prime Minister. He called on the representatives of municipalities to engage in dialogue and constructive cooperation, and listened to their views. As he announced, the Government would include mayors in the solution-finding process. As part of this plan, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with them at least twice more this year.

After the visit, the Prime Minister said that he was pleased to hear about the company’s very ambitious plans for an investment of over one hundred million euros, which is already underway and is expected to increase still significantly more in the future. He spoke with the company’s management about their global ambitions: “I prefer to see new global products being developed in Slovenia, because I think this is the only right way for our economy to develop.” According to the Prime Minister, the Slovenian economy cannot be based on cheap labour, but rather on knowledge.

Hella Saturnus Slovenija developed ambitious plans during the crisis: “This is a message to us all, including the Government, that we must never abandon development plans in a crisis, and we will not,” said the Prime Minister. Hella Saturnus’ approach shows that, in this ever-changing world that is full of challenges, this is the only path that leads to development.

The Prime Minister also discussed plans for sustainable development with the company’s management. “It is important that Slovenia remains on the map of the latest trends – digital and green, and that the automotive industry remains one of those industries that actually bring Slovenia not only jobs but also one of the highest added values,” emphasised the Prime Minister.
