Prime Minister Janez Janša meets with Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić

Today, Prime Minister Janez Janša received Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić on a working visit. At the working meeting, the two prime ministers discussed the situation of the pandemic, which is improving in both countries, the relations between the two countries and the EU enlargement process.

Regarding amical and traditionally good bilateral relations, they expressed their intention to strengthen economic cooperation and convene a joint economic committee at the earliest opportunity.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Zdravko Krivokapić, briefed the Slovenian side on the situation in the accession negotiations and their plans and expectations. Meanwhile Prime Minister Janez Janša presented the plans of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU with regard to the Western Balkans and the enlargement process. Slovenia supports the reform processes in Montenegro. During its Presidency of the Council of the EU, Slovenia will strive to continue the enlargement process with the countries of the Western Balkans in accordance with the revised enlargement methodology. Slovenia believes that the Western Balkans and the accession process of the countries thereof deserve more political attention and focus from EU Member States and institutions. To this end, the Slovenian Presidency will organise an EU–Western Balkans Summit in Slovenia in October.
