Prime Minister Janez Janša meets with Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya

Prime Minister Janez Janša had a meeting today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, Arancha González Laya, who is on an official visit to Slovenia. The two discussed bilateral relations, which they assessed as very good, cooperative and amicable. They also discussed the current pandemic situation, the measures to curb the pandemic, the course of vaccination and efforts for a common approach to vaccination certificates.

Prime Minister presented the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of the year, with an emphasis on efforts for a stronger and more resilient EU that will be better prepared for and capable of managing crises such as pandemics and cyber attacks, and on the Conference on the Future of Europe with a view to facilitating and stimulating a debate in which many citizens will participate.

The Slovenian Prime Minister and the Spanish Foreign Minister also discussed migration and development challenges, in particular in relation to Africa. Foreign Minister González Laya expressed her support for Slovenia joining the MED7, the informal group of Mediterranean EU Member States.
