Prime Minister Janez Janša supports the modernisation of railway infrastructure

  • Former Prime Minister Janez Janša (2020 - 2022)
Today, Prime Minister Janez Janša met with the Mayor of Ljubljana Municipality Zoran Janković, Jože Mermal and Bojan Albreht.

At the meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek and the Minister of Infrastructure Jernej Vrtovec, they discussed the future of railway infrastructure in the Republic of Slovenia.

The Prime Minister supported the idea of deepening the railway line in Ljubljana and building a logistics centre, which would mean relieving pressure on public transport and modernising the railway hub in the Ljubljana Municipality. The project of deepening the railway line and building a logistics centre, the planning of which stalled less than ten years ago due to the financial crisis, will create an opportunity for the capital to become a national and international modern transit hub, which will also make a great contribution to the economic recovery following the ongoing health crisis. As Mr Janša stressed after the meeting, "It is time to restart and realise the project."
